The Lexington Legends awarded several breast cancer awareness organizations with checks at a luncheon held November 14 at the LBX Customer Experience Center in Lexington. The recipients included Kentucky CancerLink, UK Markey Cancer Center, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation and the Yes Ma’mm cancer screening program.
The checks resulted from fund-raising activities at the Pink Out at the Park event held May 18, 2019 by the Lexington Legends, a minor league affiliate of the Kansas City Royals. The ball club sold commemorative shirts and auctioned off pink jerseys worn that night by players. LBX sponsored this event.
Ron Borkowski from the Lexington Legends served as the emcee for the luncheon. In addition to the check presentations, Borkowski presented LBX with one of the club’s 2019 South Atlantic League Championship Rings, given in recognition of the company’s close association with the Legends, along with its philanthropic activities in the community.
LBX is especially proud of our continuing efforts to support the fight against breast cancer with Pink-Belt — a 14-ton Link-Belt hydraulic excavator painted pink to show support for breast cancer awareness. After two years of display at charity events and fundraisers throughout Central Kentucky, Pink-Belt embarked on a cross-country Diggin’ for a Cure Tour in mid-2019, allowing Link-Belt Excavator dealers to promote breast cancer awareness issues in their own territories. In March 2020, Pink-Belt will arrive in Las Vegas for ConExpo—Con/Agg 2020 , the largest construction equipment tradeshow in North America. Pink-Belt will be auctioned off at the show’s close, with 100% of the money raised to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation’s ‘Yes, Ma’mm’ program.
